Located in Boardman across from the Southern Park Mall, is a cafe with a fun twist: holiday cheer. Although the Christmas Cafe has been open since January, it has spiked in popularity with the holiday season in full swing. With different beverages, treats, and activities it is a great experience for families or anyone who wants to be immersed in the magic of Christmas all year round.
The menu at the cafe is just as magical as Christmas cheer. With a menu consisting of signature waffles, a soup of the day, wraps, salads, sandwiches, hot chocolate, coffee, and tea, there is something for everyone. The milkshakes are definitely a highlight, with nine to correspond with each of Santa’s reindeer. There is a various array of pastries such as cookies, cupcakes, muffins, brownies, and slices of cakes.
The atmosphere of the Christmas cafe is something you don’t get at other restaurants. It’s cozy, nostalgic, and feels like you have been transported to the North Pole. From head to toe there are decorations: Snowflakes hang from the ceiling, the walls are plastered with posters of classic Christmas movies, and even a photobooth with figures of Mr. and Mrs. Claus!
Along with the usual magic, the Christmas Cafe also holds special events. There are visits from Santa, watch parties, game nights, and karaoke. These events make the cafe a great place for all audiences, especially families. Occasionally the cafe is not just for Christmas, they have also hosted events for Valentine’s Day, Halloween, and Mother’s Day.
On their website, the Christmas Cafe posted, “We’re dedicated to helping adults rekindle the wonder, laughter, and imagination often left behind in the hustle and bustle of life.” The Christmas Cafe often hosts adult-only events including sip and paints, karaoke nights, and game nights. In the past the cafe has also held a watch night for the popular series Bridgerton.
Some of Lowellville’s students have dined at the Christmas Cafe. Eighth grader Addison Woodburn said her favorite menu item was the Christmas Tree Waffle and seventh grader Frankie Loftus added that his was the Chocolate Peppermint Croissant. Eighth grader Hailey Wolfgang exclaimed, “My favorite part was the decorations around the cafe and my favorite menu item would have to be the hot chocolate.”
This year on Christmas Day they are hosting dinner with Santa. This family friendly event will consist of a dinner of ham, turkey, stuffing, mash potatoes, mac & cheese, green beans, a slice of cake or pie, and Christmas punch. There will also be live caroling, board games, and karaoking. This event is first come first serve, so it is best to reserve your spot now. It will be from 5:00pm-8:00pm and is only $25 per person!
