On Sunday, September 29, 2024, the Lowellville Little Rockets Cheer team participated in the league’s Annual Cheer Competition in East Palestine. They showed off their season’shard work and dedication. The cheerleaders have been preparing for the competition since July. Cheer Advisor Krissy Cruz said, “I’ve been preparing for the next season as soon as one ends.”
When asked about the upcoming season Krissy Cruz said, “ We are very excited to introduce for the first time a Bantam Squad. It was definitely challenging adding a new group, but also very exciting and rewarding to watch them grow each week.”
The first-year Bantam Team was able to secure a 3rd-place trophy. Abi Anderson is a cheerleader on the Bantam Team,and when asked about her favorite memory of the season she replied, “When we got our first-ever trophy!”
The team as a whole has put in a lot of hard work and dedication through lots of practices and games leading up to the big day. Abi Anderson’ talked about her favorite part about going to practices. “ I get to learn new cheers, and get to be with my friends!” Lastly, Abi said, “I like the song and learning the routine” when asked her thoughts on the routine.
The JV team came in 5th place. Fourth grader Alivia Palumbo said, “Preparing for competition has been hard, but also really fun!”
The JV squad has put in a tremendous amount of hard work, especially learning new stunts and the complexity of their dance. During the competition, Alivia was most looking forward to the awards after their performance.
Lastly, the Varsity team placed 3rd in their division. Their dedication paid off when they got to take home their hard-earned trophy. Fifth grader Karina Cruz said, “It’s been challenging, but I like the difficulty of their dance.”
