On October 18, 2024 Lowellville High School held their Annual Fall Sports pep assembly. The assembly took place in the big gym at 1:30pm. At the assembly many students in grades K-12 were all involved in getting the football team excited for their senior night. This assembly was different from any other pep assemblies in the past. At this assembly there was a major focus on including a variety of students and not just seniors or those in high school fall sports.
The assembly kicked off with the bands playing the fight song and the football team walking into the gym. The cheerleaders then connected with all students in grades K-12 by doing their Y-E-L-L, blue and gold, and ay-ay chants. The chants helped get the crowd excited and include everyone. The seniors in Band, Cheer, Volleyball, Cross Country and Golf were then announced. Next, there were fun games including the pom pom game, over and under, and a football passing game. The games were played by a variety of students in grades K-12. After this, the “Silence is Golden” winner was announced as Nick Scott. Silence is Golden is a game played by high school cheerleaders and football players where either the cheerleaders can not speak to the football players or the football players can not speak to the cheerleaders on Fridays. If they speak to one another they have to give their name tag to the person they spoke to. The winner is the person who has collected the most name tags. The pep assembly ended with the playing of “Notre Dame” by the band and the singing of the Alma Mater by the choir.
Lowellville High School senior cheerleader Gianna Clement shared although this assembly was different from the past she liked the spirit in the gym, games played and including everyone. She shared ,“having all grades included gives all students an opportunity to be involved and connected.” Because Gianna is a senior she said this pep assembly was very memorable for her being it is her last fall pep assembly.
Senior football player Nick Donatelli said, “The pep assembly helped the football team get hyped up for senior night.” He also said, “The games played helped include students in all grades rather than just high school students”.
While this pep assembly was run a little differently than in the past I think it was a great way to get everyone involved and excited for the senior night game at home. Unlike other assemblies, everyone in our school had a chance to be involved and be a part of something. This makes a difference and helps spread the excitement.
