Homecoming 2023

Lowellville High School’s Homecoming festivities kicked off on September 28, 2023 with the annual bonfire. The bonfire began with a parade from the city hall to the school. The Rocket cheerleaders, band, and football players marched down Wood Street to the music of the band while the seniors and cheerleaders did the snake. At the bonfire the high school and junior high cheerleaders cheered, the band played, and the homecoming court was introduced. The 2023 Homecoming Court girls include Aryana Romano, Hadassah Rivera, Makenna Beeson, Morgan Lewis, and Elizabeth Rossi. The 2023 Homecoming Court boys are Nick Donatelli, Anthony Vrabel, Gennaro Perry, Cody Nolfi, and Bruce Brenner. 

On Friday the 29th was the Homecoming football game. It began with another parade featuring the Homecoming Court.  In the first half of the game, the Rockets were up 12 to 6. During halftime, the band played  The Beauty and the Beast theme song, while they introduced the Homecoming Court to the crowd.  

        Makenna Beeson is the daughter of Tommy and Laurie Beeson. Makenna is a cheerleader. She has also been in Italian club, Spanish club, Art club, Wellness club, and student council.

     Morgan Lewis the daughter of Bill and Erin Lewis. Morgan is a cheerleader. She has been in band, volleyball, basketball, and softball. She has also been in Italian club and wellness. 

     Hadassah Rivera is the daughter of Juan Rivera and Deidre Rivera. Hadassah has played volleyball and has been on the track team. She has also been in the wellness club and Italian club. 

     Aryana Romano is the daughter of Justin Salata and Michelle Romano. Aryana has played volleyball and has been a member of the track team. She has also been in Italian club, Wellness club, student council, Pep club, and Spanish club. 

     The final court member was Elizabeth Rossi. She is the daughter of Tom and Jane Rossi. She is a cheerleader, has played volleyball, and has been a member of the track team. She has also been in band, yearbook, student council, Wellness club, Spanish club, and Pep club. 

     The 2022 Homecoming queen, Sophia Yon, was then escorted by the crown bearers, Jimmy and Isabella Suton. Sophia is the daughter of Corey and Stephanie Yon. Sophia plans to continue her academic and athletic career at Purdue University in West Lafeyette, Indiana. Jimmy and Isabella are the children of Jim and Candis. Jimmy is 8 years old and in 3rd grade. His favorite food is spaghetti and his favorite color is red. His favorite movie is The Sandlot. When he grows up he wants to be a major-league baseball player. Isabella is 6 years old and in 1st grade. Her favorite food is chicken alfredo and her favorite color is purple. Her favorite movie is Pirates of the Caribbean. When she grows up she wants to be a doctor. 

     The announcers, Laila Rivera and Joslyn DelSignore announced the 2023 Homecoming Queen, Hadassah Rivera. The Rockets continued the game and won 40 to 6 over McDonald.

Students spent their Saturday morning preparing for the dance. They may have spent their morning getting their hair, make-up, or nails done, or maybe they just spent the morning relaxing before a night filled with dancing. Many students took pictures with their friends and dates before heading to the dance. After students arrived at  the school the crowning of the king began. The court members walked down the gym to the song, “Golden Hour.” 

     Makenna was escorted by Bruce Brenner. Bruce is the son of Tammy Pettit and Bruce Brenner. Bruce has played football.  He has been a member of the track team and has also been a member of the basketball team. 

     Morgan was escorted by Anthony Vrabel. Anthony Vrabel is the son of Jarrod and Kim Vrabel. He has played football, was a member of the bowling team, and is an active member in FCA. 

     The 2023 Homecoming Queen, Hadassah, was escorted by Nick Donatelli. Nick Donatelli is the son of Mike and Darlene Donatelli.  Nick has played football, baseball, and has been a member of the track team. 

     Aryana was escorted by Gennaro Perry.  Gennaro Perry is the son of Vince and Jessi Perry.  Gennaro has played football, basketball, and baseball. He has also been a member of the track team and a member of the band. 

     Elizabeth was escorted by Cody Nolfi. Cody Nolfi is the son of Fred and Holly Nolfi.  Cody has played football for 2 years and baseball for 3 years. 

     Our 2022 Homecoming queen, Sophia Yon, was escorted by the 2022 Homecoming king, Casey Gordon. Casey Gordon is the son of Nicole Degenaro and Lindsey and Casey Gordon.  He plans to attend YSU for nursing.  He would later like to become a Nurse Anesthetist. 

      The 2023 Homecoming King is Gennaro Perry. After crowning students gathered in the cafeteria to take pictures, eat snacks, or dance. They danced to several songs  including line dances like the “Cupid Shuffle”, “The Cleveland Shuffle”, and other classics such as, “Sweet Child of Mine”, and “Footloose.”

Students would like to thank the Homecoming advisors, Mrs. Firmstone and Ms. Streb for all of their hard work put into Homecoming this year.
